Dwayne Johnson is reuniting with Jumanji director Jake Kasdan to create a new holiday special for Amazon.
Tentatively titled Red One, the film casts Johnson as the lead, possibly portraying Santa Claus himself. The story was created by Seven Bucks Productions‘ Hiram Garcia, who will also produce alongside the studio’s Dany Garcia and Johnson.
The script is currently being written by Chris Morgan, who has previously worked with the prolific actor in numerous other projects including all four of his Fast and Furious appearances as well as the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw.
According to Amazon, the film will be “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.”
Hoping for more details soon. Production will begin in 2022 with a release date aimed at the holiday season for 2023.
